After earning my BFA from the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC. I returned to Cecil County MD at the head of the Chesapeake Bay, where I have my studio and blacksmith shop. If I had to classify my style of painting it would fall somewhere between traditional realism and modern surrealism. At first glance the viewer may wonder if what they see is real or have they slipped into a dream world. When I paint I don’t limit myself to rules of what can and cannot happen. Making art is a place where all things are possible “no” can’t exist. I let the painting evolve, controlling what seems best and allowing to happen what must. My current work is a series of paintings called “PATHWAYS”. I use ordinary landscapes to create a paradoxical world, a world that incorporates magic and memory within an everyday reality. My frames are integral to the paintings ,made with metal and woodworking techniques I have learned over a lifetime .Each frame echoes some pattern or linear theme of the work and so provides a unifying structure for the small universe it contains. I am currently showing my work at the Carspecken-Scott Gallery in Wilmington DE, and The Art Scene in West Chester PA. I am also currently teaching continuing education at the Delaware College of Art and Design.
